So your description of Sunkenkirk means I shall look out for this stone circle next time I visit the Lakes. Thanks. I can remember my Dad stopping the car one day and showing me that stone circle in the Lakes: I didn't know what it wA called but it felt incredibly old and a bit scary. I did wonder why and how it was built. It seems strange and miraculous that these ancient things are still there. The one in Greece really staggered me: I know the history, and that there should be a physical legacy like that.. Well, I marvel.Leslie Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15105465949970430998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-53265968954718161652014-10-05T20:48:27.515+01:002014-10-05T20:48:27.515+01:00Sue, I would also love to go back to the world of ...Sue, I would also love to go back to the world of cave art. I'd like to go even further back, though - I think I wrote here a few months ago about seeing beautiful cave paintings which were at least 25 000 years old - I'd like to go back there, for similar reasons to those you express.Sue Purkisshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09084528571944803477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-16409560101254927592014-10-04T15:02:20.096+01:002014-10-04T15:02:20.096+01:00This is a beautifully written post. I think if Imtime travelled I would like to see London in the reign of Edward IV. I would like to hear all the bells and see the bustle. I imagine it would be edgy and smelly but then I might be so to them too with soap as we have it now and deodorants. So I would not stay too long. Thank you for an excellent post.Carol McGrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11072696398820339640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-3826449682166919972014-10-04T12:30:07.739+01:002014-10-04T12:30:07.739+01:00A fascinating post, Katherine, which really set me...A fascinating post, Katherine, which really set me thinking! I've also been intrigued by the recent findings about Stonehenge, and the speculations as to its original purpose... I suppose it's the uncertainty about this - even with the technological advances which have been made in archaeology in recent times - which make it such a compelling subject. As for my own favourite period for time-travel, I think it would have to be the late eighteenth century - if only for its mixture of scientific and philosophical curiosity and artistic sensibility.Christina Koninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10275312730534980490noreply@blogger.com
