I don't have much from my grandfather - only a very posed photo of him in his WW1 uniform, holding sternly onto a chair, and, strangely, a tiny carved wooden shoe - I've no idea what its purpose was, but I do associate it with him. Even fewer now, as his medals and other things went missing but we have the photographs of him, thin from dysentery in the Middle East, before he was declassified from A1 and sent to Italy.
