The Minoans infused olive oil with various herbs, plants and flowers and they traded with Egypt, possibly even sailed their scented wares right across the Med. This was possibly the first steps towards perfume, scented oils.
I used to wear Opium. I loved it. It always evokes memories of my twenties and thirties.
You must come and visit me and we'll take a trip to Grasse together
CxCarol Drinkwaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05837854482139736944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-52777723331043791562015-06-22T19:39:11.738+01:002015-06-22T19:39:11.738+01:00Thank youThank youKate Lord Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00278515379867576350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-43860032323991017462015-06-22T19:39:07.726+01:002015-06-22T19:39:07.726+01:00Thank youThank youKate Lord Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00278515379867576350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-12915502861982941772015-06-22T19:38:31.355+01:002015-06-22T19:38:31.355+01:00All gorgeous - i've just been writing the 70s,...All gorgeous - i've just been writing the 70s, all the files are scented with Opium!Kate Lord Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00278515379867576350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-31537641956986550652015-06-22T19:36:56.052+01:002015-06-22T19:36:56.052+01:00Sounds like heaven, enjoy your planting Sounds like heaven, enjoy your planting Kate Lord Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00278515379867576350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-35087996917641024732015-06-22T19:35:59.758+01:002015-06-22T19:35:59.758+01:00It helps! Generally, my favourite perfume category are the Orientals. Coco (Chanel), Poison (Dior), {no longer available My Sin by Arpege -- yes, I am old enough to remember it}, etc. have been favourites. I do not have a retiring personality ;-). If I close my eyes I can remember the huge camel snuffling round my tent late one night, and the pile of shoes I made to throw at it, if it decided to come inside. But it also brings back memories of souks and supermarkets, where you buy Frankincense in bags alongside all your normal groceries.michelle lovrichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01026972300195225090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502671101756463249.post-4069041359367581882015-06-22T09:24:01.852+01:002015-06-22T09:24:01.852+01:00What an informative and interesting post Kate, I r...What an informative and interesting post Kate, I really enjoyed it. Have you read Turin and Sanchez's Perfumes: The A-Z Guide? I bought this a couple of years ago and have been gradually collecting their 4 and 5 star ratings - even though I don't always agree with their verdicts!
