November Competition

To win one of five copies of Kate Saunders' Five Children on the Western Front, leave an answer to this question in the Comments below:

"Which children's classic would you most like to see a sequel to and who would you like to write it?"

Please also email your answer to me at: maryhoffman@maryhoffman.co.uk so that I can have a contact address for you. Some people lose out on prizes through not doing this.

Oops! I was so concerned about the contact addresses that I forgot to add a closing day! You can have an extra week - till 14th December - because of my oversight!

    Oh would have to be The Dark is Rising Series by Susan Cooper, and only Neil Gaiman could hope to do it justice!!!! unless Susan is doing it herself :-)

    Ian Serraillier's The Silver Sword, because it is written so respectfully, & because Poland has so much history that could frame a sequel.

    Ooh, so many to choose from! I'm going to say 'A Christmas Carol': you could argue that it's not for children, but they love the story, which is surely what counts. The sequel would be from the point of view of Martha Cratchit, an apprentice milliner. I love the contrast between the life experienced by those she loves and the frivolity of the work she does for her rich clients. And the author I would choose? The author of 'Velvet' and 'Fallen Grace', Mary Hooper: she has a sure touch when portraying the trials and adventures of Victorian girls.

    Again there is so many books to choose from but i would have to go with The Railway Children. The person I would like to right it would have to be J.K.Rowling. I definitely think J.K.Rowling would do it justice and she would make a brilliant sequel to this brilliant book!
