  1. Marie Stopes comes to mind as she helped so many and looked at the fact women's health affected whole families and pulled families out of poverty. She would have my vote :-).

  2. Florence Nightingale immediately came to mind, not for her role as a hands-on nurse, but as an early example of a Health Economist. She collected a lot of statistics about infection rates with outcomes & deaths & hospital locations & resources etc.) and presented them to the powers of the time in the form of understandable statistical charts. Nursing policy & practices were then adapted on the basis of this information. Her legacy lives on in modern Healthcare.
